Job Title: Clerk to the Governors
Grade: Grade 6 pro rata
Start Date: ASAP
Contract: Permanent
Total hours per year are 122, broken down approximately as follows:
- 6 x Full Governing Body meetings @ 7 hours per meeting = 42 hours
- 6 x Resources meetings @ 7 hours per meeting = 42 hours
- 1 x hour per week (term time only) for admin = 38 hours
The governing body of Hillview Primary School is looking to appoint a Clerk to the Governors. The Clerk acts as the official channel of communication to and from the governing body and enables the governing body to function smoothly and efficiently.

We are looking for someone who has excellent administrative skills in order to undertake all clerical work on behalf of the governing body. You will be required to organise meetings, prepare agendas and provide advice to the governing body, ensuring that Governors’ time is used effectively to fully benefit the pupils and school. You should be able to manage information and will be required to minute Full Governing Body meetings and Committee meetings, recording all collective decision making and challenge. There are 6 full governing body meetings per year as well as 6 Resources meetings where all financial aspects of the school are discussed. You may be required to minute further meetings as required.

You would also be responsible for maintaining governing body records and will need the ability to keep abreast of all procedural matters around governance; therefore an awareness of sources of expert advice and information is an important part of this role in order to ensure that the legal requirements for the governing body are met.

Monday – Friday 7:40am-8:40am
2 hours planning for wrap around care a week.
