Hillview Early Years is located in Hucclecote, on the ground of Hillview Primary School and has been an Early Years setting since 1988.    We have strong links with the local community and children from our setting move on to attend several local schools.  We have a close working relationship with the school which allows us to utilise all the available facilities to benefit the children.  We provide a warm, fun and friendly learning environment for children aged 2 years 9 months to 5 years.  Our aim is to provide a happy and stimulating environment, where the children can explore and learn about the world through play.

Our Aim                                                                                                                                                                         Our aim is to provide a happy and stimulating environment, where the children can explore and learn about the world through play. To enable all the children to become Successful Learners, Confident Individuals, Responsible Citizens and Effective Contributors.

Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS)
The structure of each session follows the Early Year Foundation Stage and we strive to cover all areas of development as required by OFSTED.
A copy of the statutory framework which was effective from September 2012 is available :   EYFS Parents Guide

The room is divided into five areas: –

  • Construction
  • Role play
  • Book area/quiet area
  • Expressive Art and design
  • Maths area

All the materials the children need are accessible at child height. After a short Focused Activity children lead their own play. They are encouraged to make choices and decisions. Children select their own materials, play on their own with their peers or adults. The children are encouraged to tidy up after finishing their activities.

Keywork Groups
We have 3 key work groups:

  • Bumblebees
  • Dragonflies
  • Ladybirds

We aim through these smaller groups to get to know your child/children quicker, for them to settle easier and for us all to work together for the benefit of each child.  Your child will have been allocated a key person before they started.  The key person will be responsible for keeping the observation records  required by the EYFS and OFSTED.

Transition to local Primary Schools                                                                                                                           Children from our setting move on to attend several local schools, including Hillview Primary School.  Please note that attending Hillview Early Years does not guarantee a place at Hillview Primary School as we operate separate admission policies.
